According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis had the opportunity to introduce President Barack Obama at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco, where President Obama was working to raise campaign funds.
“Never, ever,” Davis said when asked if he thought he’d ever meet the President of the United States. “I thought the closest I’d get to the President was a dollar bill.”
Davis gave his support for President Obama by encouraging the crowd to love our country so we’ll all be able to change as a country.
“If you love your country, you can change it,” Davis said. “But you have to fight for that change.”
He then took a picture with the President and chatted with him for a couple of minutes. President Obama decided to let Davis know he’s welcome to join the Chicago Bears, since that’s of course that’s his favorite team.
“If you want to come and play for the Bears, you are welcome to do it,” President Obama said.
Of course the President’s comments drew some boos from the crowd.
